Jenna Bush Hager got a little help from Joanna Gaines this holiday season.
On Monday's episode of “Today with Hoda and Jenna,” the 41-year-old mother of three talked with co-host Hoda Kotb about her rule of not putting up Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving. “I broke it,” he said. Part of it was because Whole Foods was having a sale, but she added that she was inspired by recent guest Joanna Gaines to get into the holiday spirit earlier this year.
She shares personal photos of decorated trees and mantels tastefully decorated with greenery and citrus. “Jenna, how do you know how to do that?” Joanna Gaines? ” Kotub asks.
Bush Hager said, “Joanna Gaines inspired me. I hung that wreath. I made that.”
Kotb also admires his co-star's classic holiday DIY: decorating oranges with cloves. “It's very easy,” explains her former eldest daughter. “This is a great craft for the kids. This is different from me. I know I'm not her DIY mom.” (She has three kids with husband Henry Hagar.) I have children Haru, 4 years old, Poppy, 8 years old, and Mila, 10 years old.

In one photo, a fireplace mantle is illuminated with twinkling lights and a thick band of pine branches. Another shot shows a wreath of clementines with cloves and pine cones.
“It smells so good.'' “Just get a clementine or an orange,'' Busch Hager explains. It's a bit off, but it smells really good. ”

Kotb argues that the decoration can also be used as a centerpiece, and Bush Hager agrees that it can also be used as a place marker.

The Everything Beautiful in Its Time author also revealed that she decorated the Christmas tree with her children yesterday while enjoying hot chocolate and Christmas music.
“I can’t believe you already got the tree,” Kotb says. “Do you always water it? Is that how you keep it alive?”
The two then discuss hacks to keep the tree alive as long as possible. Kotub (who usually waits until 10 days before Christmas to get a tree) says boiling water and adding sugar helps. She then credited the Christmas tree tips to her TikTok.

Not only did Bush Hager make the common areas of her home fun and bright, she revealed that the decor also spilled over into her children's rooms.
“The kids are so excited,” she shares. She prepared tinsel to decorate around the mirror. ”
