The Danish National Food Institute has recommended avoiding three popular South Korean noodle products, which it warns are so spicy they could land consumers in hospital.
Instant ramen is a go-to option when sudden hunger strikes all over the world. It is loved by adults and children alike for its spicy and flavorful taste. However, Denmark has taken strict measures against the popular Korean ramen to ensure consumer safety. A few days ago, Denmark recalled several spicy ramen products manufactured by the Korean company Samyang. According to reports, the Danish National Food Institute “has advised Danish citizens not to eat three widely sold products manufactured by the Korean brand Samyang.”
“The National Food Institute has assessed that the total amount of capsaicin in one pack of three noodle products, namely '3x Spicy & Hot Chicken', '2x Spicy & Hot Chicken' and 'Hot Chicken Stew', is extremely high and poses the risk of consumers suffering from acute poisoning,” the official report said.

Danish authorities have suspended the sale of these products because of their dangerously high content of capsaicin (the compound that gives chilli peppers their hot taste). The institute says the noodles may increase the risk of acute poisoning and has recommended not giving them to children and adults, especially those with health conditions.
A Samyang Foods official acknowledged the issue, saying, “It appears that the Danish food authorities initiated the recall not due to a product quality issue, but due to concerns that the spiciness may cause problems. We will carefully review Danish regulations and respond to the recall accordingly.”
