Most people have smart home technology installed in their homes. The implementation is good enough, but it doesn't quite beat the experience you get with new developments built from the ground up with IoT devices in mind.
US-based real estate company Flow is building a new 422-unit project in Miami. Samsung announced that it will introduce its SmartThings home technology in this project to provide a more advanced smart home experience.
Samsung goes with the flow
Flow is the latest venture from Adam Neumann, co-founder and former CEO of bankrupt shared workplace startup WeWork, with grand ambitions to transform the U.S. rental housing market.
Samsung will provide smart home technology for one of Flow's upcoming projects in Miami. The 422-unit complex will be equipped with Samsung appliances including washers, dryers, refrigerators, and projectors, all of which will be integrated with the SmartThings platform.
Utilizing various sensors and AI solutions, we will adjust humidity, temperature, lighting, etc. according to each resident's lifestyle pattern. For example, when a resident leaves the unit, the system switches to energy-saving mode by turning off lights and appliances to conserve energy. When they return, the system turns on those devices and also adjusts the temperature and humidity.
In other scenarios, such as when watching a movie, the system will automatically adjust the blinds and lights, or the lights will automatically turn on in low light when you wake up at night to go to the kitchen or bathroom.
This collaboration will be a great way for Samsung to showcase the capabilities of its smart home platform, and also highlight how residents can get the best user experience when combining Samsung's mobile devices and smart home platforms. You will also be able to:
