As May came to a close, the annual ALS Proclamation commemorating Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Awareness and ALS Family Appreciation Month was signed by Governor Josh Green. The annual memorial leis were held to honor those who have died from this terrible disease. However, there is still no cure and no medical partners to help create fully automated ALS residences, “smart houses,” for those who can no longer care for themselves at home.
Smart house technology could offer people trapped in dysfunctional bodies the opportunity to live more hopeful, meaningful and dignified lives, with fully functioning brains and the ability to harness technology to control their environment.
Thank you for honking and waving in support of our mission. We'll keep going. I'm a fan!
Catherine O'Connor
President of the Hawaii ALS Foundation
