SmartThings Pro improves the general operation of connected devices not only for individual users but also in corporate environments, such as smart signage, hospitality displays, air conditioning systems, digital appliances, etc. By linking various IoT products, it also enables corporate clients to more effectively manage various environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and lighting. It also integrates sensors such as cameras to enhance monitoring and control capabilities. These features allow users to automate daily configurations and setups, resulting in more efficient and sustainable operations while reducing overall business costs.
Many of Samsung's partners are already planning to use the available APIs, including:
Cisco will demonstrate API integration with Cisco video devices at InfoComm and show how it can be integrated with Webex Control Hub for large-scale deployments; Aqara will enhance smart hotel experiences through collaborative experiences; Quividi will leverage a new partnership with Samsung to build a retail analytics solution on its online data center, VidiCenter.
“Through SmartThings Pro, we further strengthen Samsung IoT solutions for the B2B market,” said Chanwoo Park, executive vice president of Samsung Electronics. “Our customized solutions enhance display performance in apartments, residential spaces, public facilities such as schools, and commercial spaces such as retail stores, hotels and offices. SmartThings not only improves performance but also reduces costs for these operators.”
Color e-paper: Highly efficient, light and thin displays for business
Samsung will debut the Samsung Color E-Paper (EMDX model), an ultra-low power display, at InfoComm. Seamlessly blending digital ink with innovative full-color e-paper technology, the new signage is an alternative to analog or paper promotional materials.
This new product offers a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional promotional methods while providing the highly visible signage that businesses desire. Samsung Color E-Paper operates at 0.00W1 when displaying a static image and consumes significantly less power than traditional digital signage when changing images. Additionally, administrators can remotely control Color E-Paper and set schedules to save energy with automatic start-up and sleep times.
The 32-inch screen features QHD (2,560 x 1,440) resolution and a 60,000 color gamut (six colors per pixel: red, yellow, green, blue, white, black). Weighing just 2.9 kg and measuring 17.9 mm2 in width, it can be seamlessly installed in a variety of locations, including walls, tables and ceilings, without any additional mounts. This flexibility allows businesses and advertisers to deploy color e-paper in multiple locations to effectively engage audiences while reducing operational costs.
Samsung Color E-Paper includes a dedicated mobile app3 that allows users to easily create or modify content. It also supports Samsung VXT solutions, allowing real-time monitoring and remote centralized management of multiple displays simultaneously. VXT CMS Canvas offers a variety of templates optimized for E-Paper displays, facilitating content creation across various verticals.
The Color E-Paper features two USB-C type ports for charging and data transfer, supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and also features 8GB of flash memory, interchangeable bezels that allow you to change the frame color4, and VESA5 standard wall-mount compatibility6, providing enhanced connectivity, customization options, and flexible mounting solutions.
Color E-Paper panels leverage the revolutionary E Ink Spectra 6™ technology, a breakthrough color solution designed for in-store advertising, indoor signage and paper poster replacement, featuring an enhanced color spectrum and advanced color imaging algorithms to improve marketing and advertising performance.
“We are pleased to partner with Samsung to launch the revolutionary 32-inch E Ink Spectra 6 for the signage market,” said Dr. FY Gan, president of E Ink Holdings. “This collaboration underscores our commitment to a brighter future with display solutions. By combining E Ink's cutting-edge color e-paper technology with Samsung's signage expertise, we are poised to deliver low-power color displays that will revolutionize digital promotion and communication while strengthening sustainability strategies.”
Interactive Whiteboards: AI capabilities for improved learning experiences
First unveiled at ISE7, the interactive whiteboards (WAD series) will make their big debut at InfoComm with new features including generative AI capabilities.
New AI-powered features include the ability to automatically transcribe audio lessons and generate detailed lesson summaries that highlight key points and key topics. It can also generate quizzes for students by analyzing teacher audio transcriptions, on-screen text and provided learning materials. It also uses machine learning to improve content accuracy and block inappropriate content.
Additionally, in collaboration with education technology company Merlyn Mind, the display will feature voice recognition technology optimized for educational environments, simplifying control of the interactive display and allowing features to be customised to fit a school's specific curriculum.
“We are excited to collaborate with Samsung Electronics, a global leader in education technology and innovation,” said Dr. Satya Nitta, CEO of Merlyn Mind. “Samsung has a long history of bringing advanced technology to the classroom since introducing Chromebooks over a decade ago. Together, we will continue to integrate AI built specifically for education with Samsung solutions to create more engaging and effective learning environments.”
These features will be rolled out across all three model sizes later this year, providing greater ease of use and a more contextual learning environment.
