Do you hate cleaning windows? Who doesn't? The EcoVacs Winbot W2 Omni is a smart, easy-to-use robot vacuum that picks up and starts cleaning windows automatically. With this gadget, the floor-to-ceiling windows in my apartment went from yellowed with pollen to completely spotless in just a few minutes, without me having to lift a finger.
I've tested some of the best smart home devices over the years, but the Winbot W2 Omni is the device that really makes me feel like I'm part of the home of the future. It's one of the key ways it's transformed my new apartment into the ultimate smart home space.
I've been using robot vacuums for over six years, but this was my first experience with a device that can clean vertically while still safely mounted (dare I say it, magically). But where the Winbot W2 Omni really shines is how it intelligently cleans the entire panel and then returns to its original starting point when it's done. The robot uses a little nozzle that squirts water every few inches as it goes up and down the window, which is oddly satisfying to watch, to be honest.
Setup for the Winbot W2 Omni is minimal: just dampen the mop pad, fill the tank with water, place it against the window, and power it on. The robot will instantly attach to the window and give you an audio notification that it's secured in place. From there, the robot does the rest, detecting the window edge and starting to clean. Cleaning can be further customized with settings like cycle count and movement direction. The robot itself is plugged into and powered by a compact, rectangular case that houses the battery, charging cable, and a spare set of mop pads.
There's also a companion app that offers manual control and additional settings, but I think it's entirely optional. Right out of the box, it delivers an incredible amount of cleaning power that you don't get with every smart home device. I've been using the Winbot W2 Omni every few weeks for the past few months, and I can't help but grin in admiration every time this vacuum passes by my gigantic 10-foot window.

Once Winbot has finished cleaning a panel, it will chime to let you know it's time to place it on a new surface. When you turn it off, it will turn off the suction and notify you that you need to hold the handle to avoid falling off. Depending on the size of the panel and how dirty it is, you can rinse the mop pad, refill the water tank and repeat the process. Although it's not a fully automated cleaning process like an automatic dust disposal robot vacuum or mop, it will save you time and effort, so you don't mind moving from window to window every few minutes until you've cleaned all of them.
Not only is this easier and faster than using a bucket and squeegee, it's streak-free, uses significantly less water, and gets the job done more efficiently – without breaking a sweat! Is this the type of smart home device I thought I would ever need, let alone have the chance to try? No, and now that I've tried it, I'm genuinely excited to see what the future of home automation holds.
