As early adopters of IKEA's first wave of smart home devices (speakers, light bulbs, air purifiers, and even roller shades), we know that the world's largest furniture retailer has a smart home… I always felt like I was still missing some important pieces of the pie. . The Swedish brand has invested in introducing a range of smart charging, lighting and connected audio devices, but until now IKEA has not serviced the home monitoring category. The introduction of VALLHORN, PARASOLL and BADRING is a welcome addition and, in typical IKEA fashion, brings home surveillance solutions that are affordable and easy to install.
PARASOLL is a separate sensor designed to be mounted on windows and doors, similar to products from SimpliSafe and SmartThings. IKEA's Slim Sensor is designed to monitor every time an entry point is opened or closed through app notifications.
VALLHORN is an indoor and outdoor wireless motion sensor with a light that turns on when motion is detected. Additionally, the color and intensity of the lights are adjustable.
The third sensor, BADRING, is designed to monitor the most expensive of residential concerns: water leaks. This separate device is installed near areas where water may be a concern and notifies users when it detects a leak, either by sending a mobile notification or activating a built-in alarm.
All three of IKEA's smart sensors rely on Zigbee software for app communication and connectivity protocols and are designed to work within the IKEA Home smart system ecosystem. Each smart safety product has distinct features and seamlessly connects to the DIRIGERA hub for easy operation. Customizable experience.
Pricing has not yet been disclosed, but the PARASOLL and VALLHORN will be arriving at your local IKEA this month, and the BADRING water sensor will arrive in the spring of April 2024.
