Universal Smart Home Compatibility
What I like most about the Homey Pro is its universal compatibility: it works with seven different smart home technologies, including Zigbee, Wi-Fi, Z-Wave Plus, RF, BLE, Matter, Infrared, and Thread.
This broad compatibility (supporting over 50,000 products from over 1,000 popular brands) means you can finally keep all your smart devices in one place. Whether it's an old Z-Wave thermostat or the latest Matter-enabled smart plug, Homey Pro handles it all with ease. It's incredibly liberating to no longer have to juggle multiple apps and hubs for different devices.

Material Integration
Another feature that sets Homey Pro apart is its support for Matter devices. Matter is the new standard in smart home technology, and Homey Pro not only supports these devices, but also enhances them with custom features and energy monitoring via the Homey app. This means you get all the benefits of Matter, like faster response times and improved reliability, but also the unique and enhanced features specific to Homey.
For example, I connected my Matter-enabled smart lightbulbs to the Homey Pro. It was easy to integrate and gave me detailed insight into my energy usage, allowing me to more effectively monitor and manage my energy consumption. Additionally, the Homey app allows me to add brand-specific features that aren't available on other hubs. This level of customization and control makes the Homey Pro a truly future-proof smart home hub.

Advanced Hub Performance
In terms of performance, the Homey Pro is amazing. With a powerful quad-core ARMv8 processor, 2GB DDR4 RAM, and 8GB onboard storage, it delivers 3.5x the performance of its predecessor. This improvement is evident in the speed and responsiveness of my smart home system. Tasks that previously took seconds are now performed almost instantly.
Improved performance means Homey Pro can handle more devices and complex automations. I've set up some advanced automation scenarios and the hub manages them with ease. From turning on the lights when I get home to adjusting the thermostat based on the weather forecast, this compatible smart home hub makes my home more comfortable.
Homey Pro App
One of the most appealing features of this Matter-enabled smart home hub is its comprehensive app ecosystem. With over 750 apps available, you can extend Homey's functionality to suit your needs. According to the brand, each app teaches Homey how to communicate with a specific brand of device and adds new Flow cards to enhance its functionality. As new devices and technologies emerge, Homey Pro can adapt to them.
The great thing about the Homey app store is that it's so well-stocked. Every brand has its own app, so Homey Pro can talk to all of my devices, regardless of manufacturer. This is a big plus for me. I have a variety of different brands of gadgets, so now I can get them all to work together.
Satellite Mode
Living in a large home has its perks, but it also means that Wi-Fi coverage can be poor in some places. Thankfully, Homey Pro offers satellite mode on its Homey Bridge device, extending the hub's reach so all your smart devices are within range. Setting up the Homey Bridge was easy, and it almost completely eliminated dead zones in my home.
Wired Network
One of the challenges faced with smart home hubs in the past has been unreliable wireless connections. Homey Pro solves this problem with its wired networking capabilities. The Homey Pro Ethernet adapter allows you to connect your hub directly to your wired network for a stable connection. This is extremely useful for important devices such as security cameras and smart locks.
Energy Use Insights
One of the most practical features of Homey Pro is the real-time insight into your home's energy usage. Homey's energy analytics lets you see exactly how much power each device uses, so you can make informed decisions to reduce consumption. For example, by combining energy monitoring with Homey's Flow automation, you can set devices to automatically turn off when the last person leaves the house.
If you have solar panels, Homey Pro takes energy monitoring to the next level. The outer ring of the Homey Pro hub displays the energy yield from your solar panels relative to your home's usage.
Smart plugs are another handy tool Homey can use to monitor energy. By placing a smart plug between your power sockets and devices, you can track the energy consumption of individual devices or groups of devices. This detailed monitoring allows you to identify devices that are using up a lot of energy and make adjustments to save power.
Is Homey Pro worth buying?
If, like me, you have a variety of smart home devices from different brands, you'll appreciate how Homey Pro integrates them all together – seamlessly, without having to juggle multiple apps or deal with compatibility issues. This makes Homey Pro absolutely worth it.
In terms of performance, the Homey Pro is powerful. The quad-core processor, ample RAM, and storage keep everything running smoothly and quickly. I set up some complex automation scenarios and the hub managed them without a hitch, which is a noticeable improvement over other hubs I've used.
Overall, it has made managing your smart home easier and more enjoyable, and we're confident it will do the same for you.
