So many toys in Gwyneth Paltrow's playroom that organizing a playroom looks like child's play.
The actress teamed up with The Home Edit, a highly acclaimed Nashville-based organization service, to create the neatest playroom idea we've ever seen. Founders Claire Shearer and Joanna Teplin worked with Paltrow to get the kid's space in perfect, visually appealing condition. The entire right wall is dedicated to storage space. At the top is an open-concept shelf that displays color-matched books, while the lower shelf features a basket filled with color-matched stuffed animals. Beneath the shelves, a row of drawers with stylish leather handles offers even more storage for toys and books. The entire room is swathed in white, allowing the bright, colorful décor to stand out.
Paltrow's room isn't just stunning to look at, it's also a master class in how to create a playroom. We spoke to the experts who distilled the lessons learned from the room into three easy-to-follow, easy-to-replicate tips.
First, Paltrow's room shows that color-coordinating is a great idea for playroom storage. Organization expert and Homes & Gardens digital editor Jennifer Ebert says: “Children's toys and books are often sold in whimsically bright colors, so why not use this to your advantage in your decor? Rather than integrating color in your décor, this is a simple and playful way to introduce color into the space. It'll also be easy to redecorate when your kids grow up and no longer need the playroom.”

Second, the actress' Hamptons home space demonstrates the benefits of combining different storage methods. A common playroom organization mistake is using only one method to organize: only boxes, only shelves, or only drawers. Don't use a combination of methods. Ebert says, “A combination of shelves, drawers, and boxes allows you to display and put away toys already in the room. This dual function allows you to keep the overall look clean and calm while still showcasing the room's features. I especially like the combination of boxes and top shelves; the top shelf is for display, while the bottom shelf keeps things organized and easy to access.”
Finally, Paltrow's room epitomizes why white is the perfect backdrop color. Ebert says, “Paltrow filled the room with white, which keeps the brightness of the toys from being too overwhelming. The white floors flow into the white walls and white ceiling, and the all-white built-in shelves create a smooth, calming base for the rest of the room to pop with freshness and brightness.”
