Basically, you could say that shopping is my job. As a home editor, I spend all day looking at furniture and decor, but when I'm putting together a story or shopping for my home, Target is my go-to retailer over and over again. You can't beat the quality and style you get for this price. Not to mention the convenience of delivery and pickup options. And thanks to collaborations with famous tastemakers like Shea McGee and Joanna Gaines, Target's home décor section has been coming out with some really great products lately. While some items are best purchased elsewhere (after all, you don't want your home to look like a store display), there are some household items we always recommend buying at Target. There are several. Keep scrolling to find the best home decor and furniture for the price.
1. Cushion
Cushions are one of the accessories that are often replaced seasonally, so it doesn't make sense to spend a lot of money on them. I love Target's selection. That's because Target always has a variety of patterns and materials to choose from, and most are priced around $20 to $30. Plus, new cushions are released every season, making them easy (and affordable) to swap out throughout the year.
2. Accent furniture
While we don't necessarily recommend buying a new sofa at Target, accent furniture is where this retailer truly shines. Whether you're looking for an accent chair, end table, storage cabinet, or bench seat, Target has plenty of affordable, well-crafted options. For just a few hundred dollars or less, you can easily find items to create your own reading nook, add storage to your entryway, or spruce up your living room.
3. Picture frame
It's actually shocking how expensive photo frames are. Especially if you're going for a large gallery wall, you can easily spend hundreds of dollars on frames alone, without considering the cost of the art itself. Thrift stores are a great place to choose budget-friendly frames, but if you want a cohesive look, shop at Target. The largest sizes cost less than $60, so customizing your walls doesn't have to cost a fortune.
4. Basket
Woven baskets are great for adding storage to basically any room, but if you need something large enough to stash bulky items like blankets, they usually have at least 100 Must be more than a dollar. But that's not the case at Target. Almost all of our baskets are on sale for less than $50, including extra-large options that will fit everything you need to store.
5. Lamp
If there's one thing that can instantly change the look of a room, it's lighting. Overhead lighting is often harsh and unattractive, but lamps give a room a soft, inviting light. However, a simple table lamp can cost upwards of $300, depending on the retailer. This doesn't make sense if you often buy multiple lighting fixtures for each room. That's why I always recommend buying lamps at Target. There, you can easily find gorgeous table lamps for well under $100 or full-size floor lamps for a little more.
6. Decorative accessories
It's just the little things that give a room that time-honoured, carefully selected and collected look. Small accessories such as vases, candlesticks, trays, and decorative items are key to styling shelves and coffee tables. Target's home decor section is full of great options.
7. Bath towel
For years I struggled to find bath towels that would hold up to more than a few washes. Even high-end Turkish cotton towels, which cost more than $30 each, developed bleached stains and frayed hems in just a few months. However, when I got married, I registered a Target bath towel set, and even after almost a year, it's still in like new condition. What I especially like about Threshold's Performance Plus Towels is that the material is specially treated to be fade-resistant, so the color won't fade even after dozens of washes. Plus, they're as soft as more expensive towels, yet only cost $14 for the largest size. Depending on your preference, you can also find Target His towels in quick-drying materials or chic waffle textures.
