There's nothing more satisfying than refreshing a space. There are many easy fixes that will give you a whole new look with minimal effort.
We think your bedroom is the perfect place to start things off. After all, it's your sanctuary, and what's more, it's worth waking up every day in a well-organized environment. There's no better way to start the day.
If you love all things minimal, you're in luck. We've put together a simple yet effective guide to help you easily update and level up your minimalist bedroom.
Update upholstery
Let's start with basic bedding. A quick and easy way to upgrade your room is to invest in new sheets, pillowcases, and duvet covers (and don't forget the throw). For a true minimalist look, sheets in a neutral hue (such as white cotton) are a must, and they provide the perfect base for pairing with colorful furniture and patterned home decor.
Layers add visual interest to your bedroom, especially when you combine different textures. This can easily be applied to the bed itself.
“Minimalist styles can seem easy to pull off, but layering different textures and tones takes a little more thought and planning,” says Dani Burrows, head of product at Snug. “If you're starting from scratch, think simple. Use a muted color scheme of soft grays and taupes for your upholstery, combine furniture and accessories with natural finishes like wood and wicker, and you're on a winner. .”

“Sustainable and natural materials such as organic cotton, linen and bamboo blends contribute to both comfort and environmental awareness,” adds Debbie Lee, design manager at ILIV. “For a modern touch, incorporate subtle geometric patterns into home decor items such as throws, cushions, and curtains.”
Choose such materials for the layer closest to your skin. You can be a little more relaxed when choosing a throw to hang over your bed. In the cold season, faux sheepskin, fleece and bouclé are all attractive and cozy.

invest in a rug
Because rugs cover a significant amount of surface area, they instantly catch the eye and are an easy solution when renovating a space. Being able to add depth to a room also means you can completely change the look of a space, which is great if you want to make a noticeable change. Choosing a neutral rug with lots of texture will keep your bedroom feeling light and airy. It's also a particularly great way to heat up hardwood floors.

Thick, cozy textures like faux fur, sheepskin, and wool will keep your toes warm even on the coldest days. Wool is particularly durable, making it ideal for areas in the bedroom where there is a lot of foot traffic, such as next to the bed.
Jute, while not as comfortable, is a material worth investing in. Not only does it give your space a relaxed Scandinavian look, but it's also a great way to add natural texture to your home.

Refresh your candle collection
Is your bedroom ever complete without a large collection of candles? Rhetorical question – you can never have too many candles. For an on-trend look, swap out your traditional pillar candles for a quirky style with a contemporary yet minimalist silhouette. Twist-and-bend candles are becoming increasingly popular, as are bold statement colors.
Updating your candle holders is also an easy option to freshen up your room and a great way to show off your eye-catching tapered candles. Ceramic, metal, and glass candle holders are popular this year.
Streamline storage
“Built-in cabinets look sturdy and have plenty of space, but they tend to be too large, which can lead to clutter and take up space,” advises Jonathan Clarke, creative director at Shelved. “They lack the flexibility to rearrange and remove them as needed. That's why more practical and innovative storage solutions are in demand than ever.”
Replace bulky furniture with streamlined options. If possible, choose compact furniture and minimalist silhouettes. Chunky designs can also be used in small quantities, but pair these bulky items with more delicately constructed furniture to avoid a crowded look.

Debbie agreed, adding: “When it comes to furniture, look to clean lines and multifunctional pieces to efficiently maximize space.” Incorporating sustainable materials, such as recycled wood, into your furniture can also help helps you align with eco-friendly design trends.
“Remember, tidying is still at the core of minimalism. Introduce clever storage solutions to keep your belongings out of sight and maintain the calm atmosphere that is characteristic of minimalist interiors. Simplicity, functionality, And by staying true to environmental considerations, your bedroom can easily embody the latest trends in minimalist design for 2024.”
