Designed by Perrie Edwards with a modern twist on retro decor

Perrie Edwards quickly became an Ideal Home favorite. There's a good reason why her interior choices are not only right up our street, but also incredibly in tune with the latest interior trends. The singer took to Instagram to share a snap from what appears to be her first solo project. The photo was posed against the backdrop of her bedroom, which has a retro feel, and it looks beautiful.

The most popular home decor trends are heavily in favor of retro aesthetics, taking inspiration from the bolder colors and warmer tones of the era and reinterpreting them with a modern twist. I can't deny it. The former Little Mix member is no exception. This rising bedroom decor trend (and for that matter, extends to every room in the house).

“Perry's plan takes it to the next level without any fuss. The lines are clean and the bed is kept minimal, which allows for a retro orange headboard against a wooden background. It allows us to take center stage and make maximum impact,” says Holly Vaughn, Director of Vaughan Design and Development. “She nails the retro-chic look and it looks effortless.”

“In terms of retro inspiration, we're seeing more and more ideas of 'borrowing' from the past, especially in terms of '70s furniture, whether it's the strong statement shades or the use of wood paneling to enhance the atmosphere. It’s a sense of dramatism in a space,” explains Ollie Gough of Patience & Gough.

From cozy color trends to dark wood interiors, the growing demand for the midcentury living room look shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Holly says: “Clients have welcomed the return of punchy orange as an accent color, alongside earth tones that can actually transform interiors into warm, inviting spaces rather than being dark and drab. ”, proving that it is growing even more. Popularity of this trend.

Plus, you don't even have to fully commit to perfecting your retro-inspired aesthetic. Sahar Saffari, senior designer at Hi-Spec Design, explains that the reason Perrie backgrounds are so pleasing to the eye is because the combination of dark tones and soft off-whites is very complementary.

“There's just a touch of retro inspiration in this space, but the space still looks modern and minimalist,” she points out. So don't worry, you don't have to strip out the features of your existing rooms to bring a '70s vibe into your home.

How to achieve a retro look

“There are many ways to incorporate retro design into your home,” begins Sahar. “If you don't want to completely redecorate, you can choose furniture and accessories with a vintage or retro feel, like Perry's cushions and headboards.”

When it comes to color combinations, Holly suggests considering using a combination of brown and rusty orange as your main accent tones. “We see these colors every day in nature, at beautiful sunsets and in natural materials like wood, so these colors can help set the stage for interiors.”

Warm neutrals with brown tones look great when paired with contrasting cool tones like blues and greens. For example, brown and pale olive green or pale powder blue also make an unexpected power couple in this retro-chic style. ”

Finally, Ollie's biggest tip for making a retro aesthetic appropriate for a modern home is to not go too heavy. “Remember to mix in bright hues and textures, and let the soft whites and linens act as a subtle contrast throughout the room. Incorporate some period furniture into your design, then incorporate new hardware or , fabrics, and adding new paints and oils to make it more luxurious.

Overall, Sahar concludes that retro design should be just as fun as any other design. “Experiment and always keep your personality and practicality in mind, so your designs will last.”

Perry's way to make the retro aesthetic work was to incorporate modern, minimalist features. What happens in your case?
