Smart technology provider BRAVAS has released key findings from a recent industry-wide survey, revealing the challenges architects and luxury home builders face when integrating smart technology and automation solutions into their custom properties.
The survey, conducted online in early June, reached more than 3,000 architects and luxury home builders across the U.S. The survey findings highlight the critical importance of early collaboration with integrators in the luxury residential market, which leads to better project outcomes and greater homeowner satisfaction.
Among the challenges highlighted, 20% of respondents cited the high cost of smart home solutions as a major obstacle, while a further 19% cited a lack of knowledge and training on smart home technology, difficulty finding trustworthy vendors and products, and compatibility issues with existing home systems.
The survey shows that improved access to skilled integrators could provide significant benefits to architects and builders. Only 19% of architects and builders say they regularly work with custom integrators on smart home projects, while 60% say they do so occasionally. Additionally, 31% said they need improved access to skilled custom integrators, and 30% highlighted the need for more reliable integrators to support their products.
Of those who already work with a custom integrator, 23% value the expertise and solutions these professionals provide, including setup and service support, while an additional 22% value the integrator's deep technical knowledge and assistance with architecture planning.
Custom integrators are becoming increasingly important in strategic areas, with 28% of respondents relying on a custom integrator during the early design and planning stages.
Commenting on the survey findings, Mark Goldman, Chairman and CEO of BRAVAS, highlighted the essential role of custom integrators in luxury home design and construction. Goldman emphasized that by partnering with a reputable, national custom integrator, architects, builders and designers have access to advanced product solutions, reliable warranties and superior lifetime service. This collaboration ensures that advanced technology is seamlessly integrated to enhance the functionality, security and aesthetics of luxury homes.
Goldman further noted that early collaboration with integrators enables architects, builders and designers to deliver superior, future-proof living experiences that meet the demanding requirements of their customers. This approach not only enhances the market appeal of the homes, but also provides customers with a customized, intuitive living environment, setting a new standard for luxury living.
