Neutrals with soothing color schemes that evoke the natural world are certainly a safe design choice, but they're also incredibly versatile and customizable.

On a surface level, neutral paint colors work in any light, but it's important to consider the neutral's undertones to determine which lighting will look best.
“Warm colors have shades of green and yellow, so they work well in north-facing rooms that absorb light,” explains Jen. We also recommend utilizing these subtle shades when working with spaces of historical or architectural interest, as these colors can emphasize existing features.

“Natural materials are amazing in several ways. They're often not only environmentally friendly, but they also stimulate our senses with textural interest,” explains Jen. “Even simple fabrics like cotton and linen can have a different feel depending on the item and color,” she says.
Finally, don't be afraid to add a pop of color. Even Camila added a touch of color to her bedroom with metallic green artwork on the walls and maroon bedside table.
“If you want to add color to a neutral space, an easy entry point is earthy tones. Dark greens and rusty oranges look great when paired with neutrals and add even more visual interest,” she explains.
