Year 5 pupils at St James' Anglican Junior School, Hindpool, have created a logo and name which reflects the aims of the 'Happy Hopeful Hindpool' initiative, which is part of the Home Office's three-phase 'Clean, Keep, Build' project.
The winners were announced on July 9th and presented with their awards by Barrow NPT officials.
PC Emmy Doughty said: “We wanted the branding of this project to come from the community here in Hindpool, which is why we approached St James Junior School to help us.
“We received so many fantastic submissions from across the class that it was really difficult to choose a winner.

“After careful consideration between us and our partners, Phoebe’s design was selected as the overall winner.
“We thought her design of watering the flowers in Hindpool represented what we are trying to do with Happy Hopeful Hindpool – to build the community back up into a thriving area.
“Congratulations to our two runners up, Mason who came in second and Layla who came in third. Thank you.”
“It's been a real pleasure coming to the school and working with the Year 5 pupils and we will continue to work with the school as part of our strategy.”
'Happy Hopeful Hindpool' is a long-term initiative involving organisations such as Cumbria Police, Westmorland Furness Council, a range of public agencies, voluntary organisations and community initiatives to build a brighter future for Hindpool.
A St James Junior School spokesman said: “Our year five students are currently finalising the theme 'Local Improvement' and are targeting Hindpool Urban Park and the surrounding area as inspiration.”
“The Clear, Hold, Build scheme fitted perfectly into our plans and has given extra content and meaning to our pupils’ learning.
“We’re grateful to the team at Cumbria Police for choosing us to support them with the project and look forward to supporting future improvements within Hindpool.”
