When is Amazon Prime Day 2024?
The retailer confirmed in a press release that Amazon Prime Day will take place on July 16-17. Sales will begin at midnight on Tuesday and run until 11:59pm on Wednesday, giving you 48 hours to grab the best deals.
However, some deals are available right now, and many more will be available in the coming weeks, with new deals appearing every day from July 8th to the 15th.
How do I become an Amazon Prime member?
To take advantage of all the Prime Day deals, you'll need to be an Amazon Prime member, which costs $14.99 per month or $139 per year.
New subscribers who have never signed up before can enjoy a 30-day free Amazon Prime trial to purchase exclusive member benefits, including free shipping, access to Prime Video, and all other membership benefits.

Amazon has held its Prime Day in October for the past two years, but will it do so again in 2024? There's no announcement yet, but we can be sure that a second Amazon Prime Day will be held in October. It was relatively successful as an ideal preview of the Black Friday sale in November, and it's very likely that Amazon will hold a Prime Day again in 2024.

Amazon Prime Day and Black Friday are well-known to be some of the best sales days of the year, and although there's a roughly four-month gap between the two sales, it's worth considering whether to shop on Amazon now or wait until November to purchase the items on your shopping list.
Here are my top tips on what to buy and what to avoid during Prime Day:
✅ Amazon devices
Prime Day is the only time of the year when Amazon devices will be at their lowest prices ever, which means it's the perfect time to buy some smart home tech, including a Fire TV Stick, Echo Dot, Kindle, Ring Doorbell, and more.
✅ Back to school supplies
It may be a little early, but past events have shown us that Amazon Prime Day is a great opportunity to stock up on the tech and essentials you'll need for back to school. This includes products in our specialty areas, like laptops, tablets, and headphones, but also clothing, stationery, and other consumables.
❌ Major home appliances
While Amazon does sell large appliances, if you want a new refrigerator, washing machine, dishwasher, or oven, Amazon is rarely the best place to shop. We recommend making your best purchases at other big box retailers like Best Buy, Lowe's, and Samsung, especially during other annual sales like Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day.
❌ 2024 TV
You'll find plenty of great TV deals on Prime Day, but in all but the rarest of cases, we recommend waiting until Black Friday to buy a brand new 2024 TV. Discounts on 3- to 6-month-old displays are a good start, but they'll definitely get cheaper in November. Instead, stick with older 2023 models from LG, Samsung, and Sony, or opt for more affordable options like Hisense, Insignia, TCL, or Fire TV.
