To celebrate its seventh anniversary, Controller for HomeKit has released version 7.0, which includes the highly anticipated Floor Plan feature for Apple Home users. Controller for HomeKit has always been focused on managing Apple Home with features such as complex automation, backups, setup codes, smart folders, logs, notifications, and more. But version 7.0 introduces a new standard in terms of user friendliness. The redesigned main screen allows users to navigate directly to rooms, execute scenes and workflows, and take advantage of innovative new Floor Plans.
The new Floor Plan feature allows users to quickly and easily scan their home or apartment to create a striking 3D model that can include buttons for directly controlling devices, viewing current sensor values, running scenes and workflows, and navigating rooms, providing a visual overview and allowing intuitive control of Apple Home devices, such as turning lights on/off or checking the state of contact sensors.
Controller for HomeKit is the first app to use Apple's RoomPlan to create floor plans for an Apple Home. All data processing happens locally on the iPhone, and the transfer of completed floor plans to other user devices is encrypted via Apple iCloud. Users with a LiDAR-capable device (iPhone 12 Pro, 3rd generation iPad Pro 11-inch, or 5th generation iPad Pro 12.9-inch) can test this new feature for free. Users without a LiDAR-capable device can use the new AppClip to create floor plans on a friend's device, then export and import it back into their own device.
This groundbreaking technology is now available to all Apple Home users and marks a major milestone in the evolution of Controller for HomeKit. You can download the app with a free trial from the App Store.
