Forest Hill Residence is a minimalist home designed by Burdifilek in Toronto, Canada. The house has been carefully tailored to the designer's taste in textiles, who wanted to escape from the bright colors that pervade his professional life. The home embodies the philosophy of minimalism, and Burdifilek steered the design toward a notable lack of commonly seen elements such as baseboards, moldings, and door handles.
Bourdifilek's approach introduces “interior skins” that delicately outline each room, treating changes in surfaces as opportunities to redefine traditional fixtures. A standout feature is the innovative treatment of the wall footers, which are transformed into built-in furniture highlighted with bronze cladding, creating a seamless yet chic finish.
Embracing a nuanced palette, this home is a canvas where crisp white marble meets textured neutral wallpaper, juxtaposed with the rich contrast of leather-clad Canadian black granite and European white oak elements. Serving as the heart of the home, this great room features bespoke oak cabinetry that blends seamlessly into the space, with a range of amenities hidden behind a chamfered façade.
The upper floor presents a series of rooms that balance coherence and tranquility. The master bedroom is located in a secluded nook and is protected by double pocket doors.
