Emerald Bay is a minimalist home located in Laguna Beach, California, designed by Studio Gutow. This project provided the studio with an opportunity to stay true to its minimalist aesthetic while maintaining the iconic blend of modernity and traditional design that was aptly emphasized in the restoration. It integrates original 1930s architectural structure and pristine 1970s interior design within a four-bedroom layout of approximately 5,000 square feet.
This fusion of different styles and integration of personal collections creates a home that reflects the heritage of its estate and acts as a showpiece, where furniture and walls blend seamlessly. From the specially designed ceiling painted Wimborne White by Farrow & Ball to the bespoke fabrics, craftsmanship was key to the home's unique charm.
The living room, with even more breathtaking sea views, has a luxurious feel thanks to the MLK sofa and antique rug. As a lively family home, a warm and friendly atmosphere was an important goal. To achieve this, the designers chose a color scheme centered around taupe, cognac and olive. The design of this home allows for smooth movement from one space to another, making it ideal for entertaining.
