IKEA might not be your first choice when it comes to decking out your home office with stylish and functional furniture, but their latest collection will change your mind. Designed to meet the changing needs of flexible worklife, this new furniture and accessories line has everything you need to transform your work-from-home environment into one of ultimate comfort and productivity (while also embodying IKEA's classic Scandinavian style).
Dubbed the MITTZON Collection, it is IKEA's largest office range to date. Born from a desire to address the needs of the post-pandemic workplace, where flexibility is key to adapting to changing needs, the collection aims to provide solutions that optimise the work experience, whether in a vibrant office or the privacy of your own home.
“Our vision is to improve everyday life for the many people, including their lives at work, where they spend a lot of their time,” said Jesper Samuelsson, president of IKEA of Sweden AB. “We believe that MITTZON is another stepping stone on our journey to continue developing furniture that prioritizes the needs of the many people who work, wherever they are.”
A new IKEA range of ergonomic furniture, storage systems, and clever accessories for your work tech and gadgets prioritizes wellness through design – without sacrificing style, of course. Here's why we think it's the perfect way to elevate your home office.

Comprised of 85 products, the MITTZON collection includes everything you need for your workspace, from swivel chairs to portable desk lamps. With holistic ergonomics, including acoustics and nature-inspired elements, the collection aims to create the most productive working environment possible, allowing you to work effectively from home.
For example, minimizing noise was a key consideration for the designers, as they recognized that outside sounds can have a negative impact on your ability to concentrate while working. Not everyone has the luxury of a quiet home office, so if you need to allocate a corner of your kitchen as a work-from-home space, IKEA's new soundproof screens might be the perfect investment. Not only do these screens absorb and block sound, they also prevent visual distractions, giving you the privacy you need to concentrate.
Another highlight of the collection is its biophilic design elements: the products, which include lampshades, desks and screens, are made from natural materials in organic shapes, promoting wellbeing, reducing stress and increasing productivity. True to the IKEA ethos, the range borrows natural elements from the Scandinavian outdoors, such as sand patterns and wood grain finishes, helping to create a relaxing and inspiring environment.
But the star of the show for us is the compact laptop desk. As far as desk ideas go, this one is one of the most versatile. Not only can you adjust the height depending on where you sit while working, but you can also easily change the angle of the tabletop. Whether you're taking a video call or writing a 2,000-word report, you won't have to sacrifice comfort (it also comes in a soothing sage color).
Why invest in office furniture?

A home office should be a space where form and function come together, and this collection does just that. But in addition to the aesthetics (which speak for themselves), comfort is a key pillar throughout the collection's design – without it, no one can perform at their best.
With so many of us sitting in front of a screen for hours each day, creating a comfortable environment that's good for our health can often be a challenge. Luckily, these new products from IKEA make it easy. If you're looking to invest in office furniture that prioritizes your health for your modern home office ideas, this is a great place to start.
“Our goal was to develop an office system that would establish the foundations for a truly flexible, comfortable and healthy environment, where everyone can find the right place to work and feel motivated and inspired,” said Filip Dille, product design developer at IKEA Sweden.
“Ergonomic principles go beyond good posture, and we're focused on developing products that take that into account,” he continues. “We worked with experts in the field to consider what affects not only the body but also the senses, and ultimately focus and wellbeing, in the office environment, and we incorporated that research into the development of MITTZON.”
Can't wait to redecorate your office space? Unfortunately, you'll have to wait a little longer to get your hands on the new pieces. The collection will be available at IKEA US from July 2024, with more products planned to be added in 2025. Stay tuned.
