Often, my creativity flows more freely in an office with atmosphere. For a creative person, that means a space free from blank cubicle walls, bland bare spaces, or spaces that don't scream vibrant invention and individuality. I like to inspire and elevate my ideas in any workspace, so infusing it with color and culture is a must.
When it comes to refreshing my workspace, I often look to Instagram and Pinterest for inspiration. I love seeing people's professional aura, achievements and hobbies reflected in their office spaces. Here are some that I find interesting, enlightening and inspiring, and I hope they inspire you too.
Desk DIY
Fashion designer Andrea Pitter shared a DIY, which I really liked because it looked like something you would find in CB2 or other high-end brands. I also love projects that look great but are still cost-effective for home decor. This project achieves a desk that is not a traditional choice, but is functional enough (and affordable) to achieve the unique look I like for my office decor. Another plus is the fact that she worked on this project with her partner. This is a big attraction for me, too, because I always pressure my partner to lift or assemble something heavy. If there are too many parts or screws, I literally panic. So having my partner help me is something that I can really relate to.
Color Purple
In this room, Shavonda Gardner of SG Style incorporates some of my favorite decor elements: purple, neon signs, and texture. All three of these elements are present in my home, and my office space is no exception. If those three elements alone don't inspire you, watching her paint and bring the whole vibe together is just as calming.
Neutral and bold
Taking the black and cream theme up a notch is always a joy for me, as I hate choosing all neutral colors in my home decor. But not this one. The use of natural elements (all those seagrass wall décor), art deco wallpaper, marble tables, and fur throws are all my favorites. Created by Dominique Calhoun of Remix Living, this space does a great job of using neutrals, inspiring you to level up and embrace the bold, luxurious spirit of black, green, and gold.
Pink is cute
The space is calming yet well-made, with a muted color scheme that gives a sense of calm and security. The simplicity and just the right amount of color (natural wood, khaki, white, yellow, and champagne pink) means there are fewer distractions while working, and you won't be bored by the walls of a nursery or nursing home.
Morning Blues
There's something refreshing about this room to me: it's a realistic reflection of an everyday aesthetic that mixes fantasy and reality. The dark blue color scheme gives the room a dreamy, authorial feel, and the printed rug and matching planters and vases complement it nicely, but the ergonomic chair is still better than any of those cute little chairs you see in a lot of popular interior photography. I spend most of my workday sitting and staring at a screen, and I've tried about half a dozen beautiful-looking chairs, but they were all too small, too low, or didn't have the back or knee support of a real office chair.
