TAFE Queensland has opened a new Smart Home Technology training facility at its Ashmore Campus on the Gold Coast.
Chris Carr, CEO of Clipsal by Schneider Electric.
Now accepting its first intake, Smart Room offers current electrical technology apprentices and qualified electricians the opportunity to develop their skills in transforming traditional homes into interconnected, energy efficient and safe living spaces.
Equipped with Clipsal Wiser smart home products, our state-of-the-art facility is the home of immersive training incorporating the latest innovations in smart home automation.
Wiser is an accessible, scalable and wireless home automation system developed to give Australians control over their entire home.
Compatible with Bluetooth and Zigbee systems, the range allows seamless control of connected switches, sockets, sensors and IR controllers, all integrated through the Wiser by Schneider Electric hub and app.
Chris Carr, CEO of Clipsal by Schneider Electric, said the new facility was designed and built to bridge the gap between traditional electrical work and future home technology.
“This will put budding electricians at the forefront of change and ensure they enter the workforce with cutting-edge skills,” he said.
“This new program demonstrates TAFE Queensland and Clipsal's commitment to sustainability and education, aimed at better preparing electricians outside the classroom.”
“It is essential to equip students with the knowledge and skills to implement smart home technologies and contribute to the development of energy-efficient homes and communities.”
The facility aims to improve apprentice skills and develop an environmentally conscious and tech-savvy workforce.
TAFE Queensland education delivery manager Chris Martyr said there were plans to open additional facilities across campuses in the near future to accommodate more students looking to upskill.
