13 Lifelike Artificial Plants that Require No Maintenance
How do you clean artificial plants?
Caring for and cleaning your artificial plants couldn't be easier (or quicker). “A gentle wipe with a damp cloth every now and then is all you need,” says home décor brandDowsing & Reynolds“Artificial plants are also hypoallergenic and safe for children and pets (unlike real plants), so they can be enjoyed by the whole family for years to come,” says Connor Prestwood, interior design expert at .
“For tough stains on the leaves of artificial plants, you can use a solution of half water and half vinegar,” says Tracy. “Spray the stained plant with the solution, let it soak for 5 to 10 minutes, then wipe it down thoroughly with a damp cloth.”
How to choose the most realistic artificial plants?
The key is to choose artificial plants that avoid blocky colors and artificial tones, which are essential for them to look realistic. “Look for high-quality designs that include exquisite detailing,” says Connor.
Tracey adds: “It's probably worth spending a bit more on artificial plants, as not only will they look more realistic, but they'll also be much better quality and last longer. Look for plants that have different shades of green and leaf textures – if your artificial plant has blocky, single-coloured green leaves, it can tend to look very plasticky and unrealistic.”
How to Style Artificial Plants
You have a lot more flexibility when styling artificial plants than you would with real plants. Tracey says: “Styling them with trendy flower pots and adding things like pebbles to the pot can make them look more realistic. Some of the most realistic looking artificial plants on the market are monstera and eucalyptus. So if you're looking to buy one now, some good choices are coconut, exotic palm, bird of paradise flower, aloe vera and sansevieria.”
