Older Control4 systems provide building blocks for outdoor additions
Fetter notes that the project was large-scale, involving extensive excavation of the site. Construction of elaborate pools, pool houses, and authentic outdoor kitchens. This includes specialist landscaping and painstaking trenching for critical electrical and low-voltage cables.
But what made things a little easier for RMS was the owner's decision to continue using the existing Control4 system as the basis for a larger smart home system that included an outdoor zone.
“There is no need to remove or replace any products. Extending the Control4 experience to your renovated outdoor area is like adding new Lego blocks to your current infrastructure,” said RMS President and Managing Director said partner Caleb Fetter.
For installation, RMS extended the Control4 system with a variety of products from Snap One's catalog and several third-party manufacturers. In addition to the usual outdoor amenities such as displays, speakers, lighting, Wi-Fi access, and surveillance cameras, the RMS also integrates gas lanterns, infrared heaters, ceiling fans, and more.
To address the video side of the smart home outdoor system upgrade, RMS leveraged SunBrite displays and third-party outdoor speakers for its backyard transformation. RMS has divided his client's garden into four audio zones, with visually distinct landscape architecture speakers strategically placed in the planting beds and an outdoor pool flush with the ceiling of his house. It describes it as consisting of an attached speaker.
The pool house features a 65-inch SunBrite TV to further enhance your entertainment experience. Homeowners can select and direct music and video for any AV zone via a custom-programmed Control4 SR260 remote control or smartphone app. You can also use one of his Control4 touch panels inside the house to start the party before you even walk out the back door, and Atlona OmniStream will deliver your selected content to the appropriate zones.
RMS takes special measures to accommodate a wide range of outdoor lighting
RMS had to take a hard look at the infrastructure needed for this smart home expansion and address power requirements, as external lighting often impacts integration projects. RMS acknowledges that to properly meet these requirements, you may need to adjust your schedule and work with a qualified electrician.
Fortunately, RMS has an in-house electrician who streamlined the installation of numerous light fixtures, water pumps, ceiling fans, and electric igniters for gas fireplaces and fireplaces in this smart home project. The necessary electrical wiring was installed and RMS coordinated the operation of these equipment with the AV system. His nearly 40 zones of DMF architecture, various landscape features, and hurricane lanterns highlight the beauty of the outdoor design.
The Control4 system's built-in astronomical clock automatically turns all lights on and off based on the time of day. However, each zone can be controlled individually on the fly via his Control4. For example, an owner may choose to only light the canopy of a tree for a dramatic effect, or only the area within and around the pool house for an intimate gathering. .
It's just as easy to incorporate gas fireplaces, fireplaces, and infrared heaters into your scenario. At the end of the night, the owner can put the outdoor area to bed with just one tap of his Control4 remote control, mobile app, or touch panel button.
By leveraging the integrated capabilities of the Control4 platform, RMS was able to transform an underutilized outdoor area into a comprehensive living space with modern components. From casual BBQs and pool parties to watching movies in the pool house, Fetter emphasized that RMS smartly made his home his space easy to transition from one activity to another. To do.
“Simplicity is our most important mission, and Control4 has helped us successfully deliver on this promise,” adds Fetter.
