I can't say how it is in other countries, but here in Australia I think H&M homewares are quite underrated. Many of the company's products, including bedding, kitchenware, and home decor, look and feel designer, but they don't come with the price tags to match.
I have a stone-colored linen blend bathrobe from there that I've worn for years and still love. And I recently acquired a blue blurred vase that looks like it was handmade.
Now, the home section of the Swedish store (yes, like IKEA, H&M was also founded in Sweden) is even better, with a new Launched a collection.
Mahadavi does the interior design for the Instagram-friendly Sketch restaurant in London (you've definitely seen it, the one that's all pink), so it's no surprise that her home The collection features bright colors such as orange and green, color play with gradients, and out-of-focus graphics.
She said she was inspired by the dazzling colors you see when you close your eyes in front of the sun, and said the collection was meant to bring a breeze of optimism to an uncertain world. “With this collection, H&M Home has given me the opportunity to spread my fun color palette on an international scale,” says Mahadavi.
The collection (priced from $27.99 to $149) includes ceramics such as plates, bowls, mugs, and vases, as well as exquisite natural materials such as cushions, placemats, blankets, and a large plaid rug in blue and cream. Contains textiles. All of these are made by European manufacturers that Mahadavi hand-picked from among H&M Home's suppliers, who she felt understood their shared values.
“We wanted to create a collection that is poetic and meditative, with a focus on carefully crafted quality and joyful colors. We wanted to introduce our customers to India's impeccable color sense and design aesthetic. I can't wait to see it,” says Evelina Kraviav Soderberg, Head of Design. H&M Home Creative.
Born in Tehran, raised in the United States and Europe, and currently based in Paris, Mahdavi's creative identity and artistic references are multicultural and unconventional. She is responsible for some of the world's most photogenic interiors and is known for her design philosophy that shows how color, material and shape can positively impact mood.
The collection is currently only available in Australia at Sydney's Pitt Street H&M store, but we hope the brand will add the homeware items to other stores and online offerings.
