crow pumpkin
mike garten
To create this stunning look, choose a fresh pumpkin, wipe it clean, and clean it with a spray mixture of water and vinegar.
Use a good pumpkin carving knife, keyhole saw, or heavy-duty serrated knife to cut a round opening from the bottom of the pumpkin (this will make it easier to add lights). Scoop out the inner pulp and seeds and trace this crow template onto the pumpkin using a washable chalk marker. Before placing the carved pumpkin on top of the string lights or LED votive, use a craft knife set to cut along the lines of the template.

cupcake liner pumpkin
mike garten
You should already have at home what you need to make this stylish pumpkin. Once you have your tools ready, start by folding your cupcake liners in half. Starting at the top of the pumpkin, attach the matte black folded cupcake liner as close to the stem as possible with double-sided tape. Overlap the liner a little and paint a vertical line at the bottom. Using metal folder liners, create another vertical column with the rounded edges visible and slightly overlapping for a textured look. Repeat steps until pumpkin is completely covered.

spider web pumpkin

Add a twist to traditional pumpkin carving. Instead of cutting off the top of the pumpkin, cut out an oval shape from the front. Scrape out the seeds and pulp. Spray paint the entire pumpkin black (be careful around the stem). Next, use the awl tool to punch holes around the edges of the opening. Pass the string through the hole to make a net. Complete your spooky pumpkin by hot gluing a plastic spider to the web.
