“Believe it or not, my parents gave me an easel and a set of watercolors when I was two years old,” says Anna Sadler. “I don't think I've looked back since. There are a lot of creative people in our family, and my outlet was art and cooking. I went to school for fashion design at first, but after two years I found another outlet. I realized that I needed it.”
With over 20 years of experience, Surface Refinements has created a variety of projects with a focus on beautiful, modern wall décor, artistic finishes, and wall treatments.

“We are a unique resource for interior designers who can provide customized finishes for any space. Sometimes they are subtle, quiet, and understated, but sometimes we have the opportunity to create something grand and dramatic. ,” says Sadler. “Regardless, research goes into every project to ensure we deliver something memorable and timeless.”
She works with her husband, Scott, to manage the Scottsdale business, and the two enjoy bringing their customers' visions to life. Additionally, we provided stunning wall treatment designs for her recent ICONIC HAUS K&Q Interiors.
“We have worked together as a team for over 20 years,” says Sadler. “Thankfully, he makes my job a lot easier by taking over all the parts of the job that I don't like more than creating. We get to spend all day together and have a great work environment.” I think I'm lucky.”

Sadler says every new client gives him the opportunity to create something different and magical, and when creating and designing modern wall décor, artistic finishes and wall treatments, he uses a variety of We use the same techniques and no two projects are the same.
“We have over 200 sample boards in our portfolio with artistic finishes,” says Sadler. “We use materials consisting of metallic plaster, metallic paint, glitter, glass glitter, gold foil, foil, silver foil, mica powder, mica chips, lots of plaster, glazes and sparkle coats. Out of the question. It's nothing. It could be the most ordinary item that creates magical texture and movement.”
Sadler says work is her passion and there is nothing else she would rather do.

“As an artist, there is no greater joy than realizing someone's vision and bringing a contemporary wall décor to life,” says Sadler. “I thoroughly enjoy the creative journey, from the first meeting, exploring materials, working on samples, and researching every project right up to the final product before it's hung on the wall.”
What’s next for the husband and wife team at Surface Refinements?
“I told myself this was the year to push my limits, try new and exciting techniques, step completely outside of my comfort zone, and grow as an artist,” Sadler says.
“Actually, I like the feeling of having butterflies in the pit of my stomach and being nervous. Every new project is an opportunity to learn and grow, and I look forward to working on more artistic finishes, and I'm excited to be working on my custom canvas pieces. I hope we can shift some more of our workload.”
