When it comes to wall art, you're more likely to hang the same decorations all year round. It may have been a while since you updated your living room gallery. Or maybe you haven't mixed in the art that lines your stairs since you moved. Everyone likes timeless interiors, but there's also room for a few goodies. I love how this wall piece is perfect for the season. Whether you've been looking forward to Halloween for months, are celebrating Thanksgiving to the fullest, or just love fall, these fall wall decoration ideas will instantly make your surroundings cozy. Sho.

If you consider yourself crafty, there are plenty of DIY fall wall decor ideas you can create for this season. Think cheerful pompom garlands, dressed-up embroidered hoops, handmade wreaths, and the spirit of fall. Or maybe you can find some inspiration for your fall wall decor. Arrange your artwork in ways you never thought possible or blend your current displays with fall pieces. Either way, these gorgeous fall wall decor ideas are here to give you some inspiration for a seasonal refresh.

1. Special feature on heart-warming recipes

Fall recipes are some of our favorites (as is anything with pumpkin), and you can now display some of your favorite dishes on your kitchen walls. First, choose a fall family recipe that is close to your heart. Next, try applying letter stickers ($12 on Amazon) to a white canvas or handwriting them yourself.

2. Connect the pom-poms

It's sweater season, but it's only appropriate to include some gorgeous and cozy fall wall decor. Make pom-poms from yarn to create a garland in warm autumn colors. Tie them together with string and display a garland above your bed or along your mantel.

3. Create a classic wreath

You can never go wrong with something classic, like a timeless fall wreath. Whether you want to dress up your entryway or use it to fill empty wall space in your living room, wreaths are surprisingly easy to make. Start with a grape vine shape (I used natural branches) and weave in real or faux floral patterns (Amazon $13) using hot glue or flower wire.

4. Word play

Let everyone know that autumn is your favorite season through wall decorations. Choose a quote that warmly reminds you of the season, and create or purchase art that showcases the phrase. Hang it over a small table, buffet, or credenza and complete the look with the best fall items like leafy branches, pumpkin garlands, and lots of gourds.

5. Use fabric scraps

To decorate your fall walls, buy embroidery hoops ($5, Michaels) in various sizes and use them to frame patterned fabrics in fall hues. Add mini hoops and buttons to create a 3D gallery wall. Hang it above your bed for a fun burst of fall color.

6. Display your flea market finds

Flea market treasures are great for year-round decor, but some of the most sought-after finishes can fade. Hang a large salvaged sign on the wall, pair it with a seasonal wreath, and use some found architecture to push the look even further. Several bright gourds under an antique cloche complete the vignette.

7. Spell It Out

This DIY project can be dressed up for fall, but can be used year-round. Paint a cutting board with chalkboard paint to use as fall wall art. A branch of berries and a fall greeting like “Happy Fall” will make it look perfect for the season. Hang it on a peg in your entryway or laundry room to bring fall charm to your utilitarian area.

8. Introducing the blessings of nature

To create simple, nature-inspired fall wall decor, collect twigs from your backyard or purchase craft twigs ($13 on Amazon). Using leftover wood chips or boards, make pumpkin shapes out of twigs and hot glue them together. Finish off the rustic pumpkin with raffia ribbon.

9. Get creative with corn

Corn cobs are abundant at this time of year. Turn your crops into custom outdoor decorations. For this project, glue corn cobs to salvaged wood to spell out the word “fall.” Attach a rope to hang your artwork or lean it next to your front door. Complete the display with potted moms and lots of pumpkins.
