Spring is the season of renewal. A chance for a new start. As I walk outside on the first warm, sunny day of the year, I often feel like we're all breathing a collective sigh of relief when I see my neighbors. When the cold of winter ends and spring comes, it becomes brighter, especially inside the house. It's time to put away the chunky knits and faux fur and embrace gingham tablecloths and pastel-hued cushions. Spring has finally arrived and we are ready to refresh.

7 Spring Interior Trends for the Ultimate Refresh

We spoke to several interior designers to find out what spring interior trends they're eyeing and loving this season. A dreamy design that combines fun colors, soft patterns, soothing textures, and a touch of the unexpected. Want to know more? Learn how to give your home a fresh start with this season's latest interior trends.

Mixing patterns

One of the biggest interior trends this year is individuality. We're encouraged to be bold when it comes to design choices for our homes, and spring is no exception. Amber Guyton of Blessed Little Bungalow totally embraces the trend by mixing patterns for a maximalist appeal.

“This spring, I'm encouraging my clients to mix patterns to their heart's content!” she says. “Even if your basic color palette is neutral, don't be afraid to layer different patterns with bold colors.” If you're feeling a little nervous about this (bold moves can be scary), accents Start small with pillows and plates. towel. “To kick things up a notch and add interest, mix in something unexpected and outside of your comfort zone,” Guyton recommends.

Delicate wallpaper print in soft colors

Wallpaper instantly transforms a room and has a huge impact on the look and feel of a space. Spring-inspired prints look beautiful all year round, whether they're small, simple patterns or large-scale prints. Her Julee Wray, owner and head designer of Truss Interiors, loves using wallpaper, especially in bedrooms. “We love large prints on the back of the headboard,” explains Truss. “It's a great way to add depth and height in a way that framed art can't.”

unexpected red

You've probably noticed the Unexpected Red theory that's been circulating on TikTok. A pop of red claims to improve a space, especially if it looks like it's not supposed to be there. Red can be a tricky color, but Places Studio's lead designer Chelsea Albright is especially pushing this trend this spring.

“Spring is the time to refresh your space, and incorporating unexpected red decor is a great way to add visual energy to a neutral space,” she says. Her favorite way to add a pop of red is with small ornaments.

“Incorporate items like coffee table books, vases, bookends, artwork, and even fresh roses,” she says. “You'd be surprised how exciting a pop of red can be!”

play with colors

“Neutral interiors will remain a timeless classic, but get ready to see more color this spring,” Scheck asserts. “Homeowners want to add more character and character to their homes, and incorporating color is a natural way to do that.”

Whether it's wallpaper or simple decorative items that you can change up with the seasons, there are many ways to bring color into your home this spring. And of course, there's the magic of painting. “No matter which room you're painting, make sure the walls and ceiling are the same color,” suggests Ray. “Make the colors your own!”

If you want to be bold, include both paint and wallpaper to mix and match colors and textures. This is a trick by Karen B. Wolf of K+Co. Love to live. “My preference is to mix and match paints and wallpapers for accents. For example, use one material or color on two opposite walls and use another material or color on the remaining two walls. ,” she explains. “This approach tends to harmonize the space and provides ample opportunity for special features to shine.”

natural wood

Another big interior trend this year is ditching fashionable furniture in favor of natural wood. “There's something about natural wood that's grounding and gives a space a sense of peace. There are so many designs available right now, and it's perfect for the spring season,” says designer and creative director of California-based Bianca Eklund Design. says Bianca Eklund.

If you need new furniture to refresh your home this spring, take the time to look for solid wood. Mother Nature is the ultimate designer, so it's no surprise that natural materials look beautiful and give us a sense of calm. “I love using some form of natural wood for a chic space that draws people in and makes them feel comfortable,” says Eklund.

rattan

Audrey Scheck of Audrey Scheck Design is a big believer in incorporating natural materials into your home, and she especially loves incorporating rattan in the spring.

“Rattan infuses warmth and texture into any space, easily evoking a relaxed aesthetic in an organic way,” she claims. “It is a very versatile material and can be seamlessly incorporated into homes as furniture, light fixtures and decorative accents.”

In a space based on natural wood, rattan creates a lighter, more playful feel, perfect for the spring season.

Accented with pastel colors

It's not spring without pastels. If you don't like painting the entire room with pastels, why not consider pastels as accents? Painting trim, ceilings, and wall wainscoting is a great way to add an attractive element to your design. This is especially true of spring colors. Because spring colors are essentially equated with new life,” recommends Decay & Tate interior designer Nina Grauer. As seen in Grauer's bedroom design above, pastel trim adds something special to the room. She recommends glossy paints for pastel woodwork.

If you're not into color, there are also pastel colors that are neutral. “We're definitely moving towards warmer colors and this spring we're using light browns because they pair well with different accent colors like navy, coral and ochre,” says Laura of Element Design's network. His Chappet said.
