With Easter about two weeks away, we're all starting to embrace all things spring. That's what this holiday heralds – the arrival of spring with warmer weather, longer and brighter days, and blooming flowers and trees. Speaking of trees, this year's Easter also spawned a new seasonal trend known as Easter trees.

This Easter decoration idea consists of placing tree branches in a vase and hanging Easter-themed decorations from the branches. Similar to Easter wreaths, there are several things to consider when creating your Easter tree design, from the color scheme to the type of branches.

However, the idea of decorating trees and bushes with Easter eggs is not new to Germany, and this festive trend has its origins there. This tradition, known as Osterreierbaum, has been going on for centuries here and in surrounding countries.

Holidays like Christmas and Easter also have their own interior trends. And this Easter, which falls on Sunday March 31st, Easter trees are favored as an attention-grabbing display. piece of resistance.

“Decorating your home for Easter is a lovely way to celebrate the arrival of spring,” says Rachel Fearnley of Rachel Fearnley Designs. “And although Easter is very early this year, there are signs that spring is on its way. Many of these can be incorporated into decorations that reflect the season. Easter trees decorate your home for Easter A simple but very stylish method: these “trees” are portable and can be used as a centerpiece on your dining table or placed discreetly on your windowsill. ”

This is how to style your Easter tree for maximum effect.

1. Select flowering branches

The branches are the base and the structure that holds the entire display. So choose your branches wisely.

“Look for branches that are flexible yet sturdy, such as cherry, apple, or pussy willow branches,” says Millie Durbach, brand manager at Prestige Flowers. “Not only are these varieties beautiful to look at, they also hold their ornaments well without sagging.”

She adds, “When choosing branches, consider the size and shape of the vase. They should fit comfortably without overwhelming the space.” Choose ones that are neither too thick nor too thin. please. Aim for branches around 1 to 2 inches in diameter for a balanced, heavy look. ”

Cut the branches at an angle to extend their lifespan before placing them in your chosen vase. Also, don't forget to soak it in water and change it regularly.

If you prefer something more low-maintenance, you can choose artificial branches, just like you would choose the best artificial Christmas tree. These bunches of branches are some of our favorites.

Just like you can make your own Christmas decorations, you can also make your own Easter decorations. Eggs are traditionally used to decorate the tree, so whether you use empty egg shells or cardboard in the shape of an egg silhouette.

Rachel showed us how to make your own Easter decorations for the festive occasion. He “makes small garlands out of thin twigs and decorates them with small flowers made of cotton cloth.'' When hung on a branch, they move as the breeze passes through the room. ”

She continues, “Button Easter eggs are also easy to make and look very effective when hung on a tree.” Simply cut out small pieces of colored cardboard to create the egg shape. Choose pastel-colored buttons and glue or sew them onto the cardboard. Hang the egg on the branch by attaching the two “eggs” together and inserting a small ribbon into the top of the opening.

3. Choose pastel colors

Choosing a color scheme and sticking to it will tie the whole display together. Pastels are the most Easter-y hues.

' Consider creating a tree theme. This will help guide your ornament selection and give your tree a cohesive and sophisticated look. Soft pastel colors such as blush pink, mint green and powder blue are classic choices for Easter,” says Millie.

However, if you don't like the pastel color scheme, you can choose colors that complement your home's interior.

“Unlike a Christmas tree, I prefer a minimalist approach when decorating an Easter tree. A few carefully selected pieces express the changing seasons and new hopes associated with Easter and spring. , I think it adds a certain charm to the tree,” says Rachel.

The minimalist approach can be interpreted in two different ways. Like Rachel, you can choose just a few decorations for your tree, or you can choose a pared-down, minimalist aesthetic with neutral tones, simple shapes, and bare branches. The latter is especially great if you want to modernize your Easter tree arrangement.

“Mix and match different textures and materials for added interest. Consider incorporating sparkly embellishments, satin ribbons, and delicate lace trims for layering and dimension.” suggests Milly.
