It will introduce its secret. To decorate your walls nicely, you may need some smart additions to your existing decor. Here, Jena Sue Her Design's Jenaru Blanc refines the mantra that “less is more” with an elegant display of pine twigs. “One of her favorite holiday decorating tricks is adding swag to the light fixtures,” she explains. She says, “I hung velvet ribbon from the branches of a Norfolk pine over the picture lights on the gallery wall. This simple addition brings an elegant touch to any room and is an easy way to make a space feel festive.'' .”

This artfully placed garland adds a satisfying touch to the room's existing color scheme, right down to the gold thread on the sofa's statement cushions, setting the tone for a festive space. “Rather than cluttering the space with additional decorations, we added decorations on top of what was already there,” designer Bradley Odom, owner of Dixon Rye in Atlanta, tells Elle Deco. Consider placing a wreath over the art, draping it over the back of a chair, or adding ribbon or garland to an existing sculpture. Skies speckled with snowflakes are the limit!

Furniture may be wall-to-wall, but hanging an elegant pine tree on a credenza or bookshelf can change the feel of a room. “By adding layers of holiday decor, rather than adding something entirely new, you can continue with your space planning and make it even more festive,” explains Odom. A velvet ribbon studded with cowbells adds to the festive spirit.

Make your living room feel cozier with mood lighting. In her 1910 Craftsman House, Haley Lund installed round candle sconces from June Home Her Supply on either side of the windows. “We liked the idea of adding these sconces after seeing them on TV at the time, which matched our home,” says Runde. “We brought them in just before the holidays last year, and they brought so much warmth and coziness to the space. Functional and chic always wins.”

These three hexagonal mirrors may be here all year long, but they've never looked this beautiful. Shelby VanHoy of Pretty in the Pines often chooses framed art when creating a gallery wall, but she doesn't feel comfortable using these mirrors to fill the wall above the couch. He says it wasn't there. “The asymmetrical layout was a clean, simple, yet unique setup,” says Vanhoy. “We tied greenery into each frame for a cozy seasonal upgrade.”
