All you need to assemble this space-saving DIY recycled storage rack is 5 plastic bins, 6 2x2s, some screws, and an hour of work. Our frame fits containers with a 14-1/2″ x 10″ top and 15″ height. Our container was made by Rubbermaid.
If using containers of different sizes, adjust the distance between the posts so that the 2x2s hang over the edges of the containers. Next, adjust the spacing between the horizontal rungs so that they fit snugly when the container is tilted as shown.
First, cut the 2×2 to length according to the diagram. Next, mark the location of the post rung. Drill two 5/32-inch drills. Drill a hole at each cross member location of the post. Drill the holes from the outside inwards, angling the holes slightly inward so the screws don't stick out the side of the rung.
Drive 2-1/2 inch. Screw the struts through the crosspieces. Assemble the front and rear frames. Next, connect with the horizontal crosspiece. Learn how to build a garage storage tower.
