12 essential devices to turn your home into a smart home

Smart buttons are a niche but useful product. These work by running a series of automations or commands each time you press a button. For example, you can program one of these to turn off or dim your lights, lock your smart door locks, adjust your thermostat, or set an alarm on your smart speaker. Place the button next to your bed and you'll never have to wonder if you forgot to close the door. You can configure these tasks individually for each smart home technology. However, sometimes it's easier to press a button.

There are some good options here, but Flic makes a decent product with the Flic 2. You can get a set of three for about $80, and bundles are available online that also include the necessary hubs. It features the same level of control as most other smart home buttons and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple Homekit routines for additional functionality. There's also support for Google Assistant. Flic is working on support for Matter, but the Flic 2 button is not yet supported.

There are other companies that make smart buttons. Govee, Aeotec, TP-Link, and even Philips make products for Philips Hue lights. You should check out the different options to see which one is best for you. Flic is a solid place to start since it's mid-range in price.
